Primary Healthcare Benefit 

 

Montego Pet Nutrition is committed to supporting the health, financial well-being, and long-term security of its employees. As part of our Total Guaranteed Package (TGP) offering, we provide a range of carefully structured benefits tailored to meet the needs of our diverse workforce.

These benefits include access to medical aid and healthcare cover, retirement savings through the Sanlam Umbrella Provident Fund, approved risk and funeral cover, and a subsidised primary healthcare plan for qualifying employees. Each benefit is designed to promote peace of mind, dignity, and financial resilience—both in the present and in future life stages.

Full details of each benefit, including eligibility criteria, contributions, and claim processes, are outlined in the sections that follow. Employees are encouraged to familiarise themselves with these benefits and to contact the HR Department for further guidance, updates, or changes in personal circumstances.

  • Montego Pet Nutrition provides a company-funded Health4Me Primary Healthcare Plan for qualifying employees who earn below a specified monthly income threshold. This benefit is free of charge to the employee.

Adding Dependants

  • Employees have the option to add their spouse and dependent children to the plan at their own cost. For assistance with quotations or enrolment, please contact the HR Department.

What the Plan Covers

  • This benefit includes access to basic primary healthcare services via a designated network. Please ensure that your healthcare provider is registered as a Health4Me Network Practitioner.

Covered Benefits Include:

  • Unlimited GP visits (network doctors only)

  • Medication provided at dispensing doctors, or a script issued for collection at Clicks, Dis-Chem, or Medi-Rite

  • 2 specialist consultations per year per registered member (referral required from a network GP)

  • Basic dentistry and optometry services

  • Acute & chronic medication, with cover for 26 chronic illnesses (e.g. high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, heart disease)

  • Basic blood tests and black & white X-rays

  • HIV management and maternity benefits

  • One annual flu vaccination per registered member

Advantages of the Plan

  • Avoid long queues at public clinics or hospitals

  • Receive treatment and medicine directly at the consultation (when using a dispensing doctor)

  • Ongoing support for chronic conditions, maternity, and wellness

DISCOVERY MEDICAL
MEDICAL AID AND HOSPITAL PLAN

  • Employees are eligible to join a Discovery Medical Aid or Hospital Plan.

  • Membership is voluntary, and the monthly contribution will depend on the specific plan option selected.

  • Access to private doctors and hospitals is subject to the benefits and limitations of the plan you are a member of. Please note that this is a higher-cost option compared to public healthcare.

  • Employees may also add their spouse and dependent children to their selected plan, at an additional cost.

SANLAM UMBRELLA PROVIDENT FUND

Montego Pet Nutrition automatically enrols all permanent employees in the Sanlam Umbrella Provident Fund, which serves as the company’s official retirement and group risk benefit provider.

All employees qualify for the benefits provided through the Sanlam Umbrella Fund. Contributions to the fund are made on a salary sacrifice basis, meaning both the company and the employee contribute a percentage of the employee’s monthly salary.

These contributions are automatically deducted each month. Employees also have the option to increase their monthly contribution to enhance their retirement savings.

Retirement Benefit

  • Upon reaching the retirement age of 65, the total value accrued in your Provident Fund will be paid out to you in accordance with fund rules and tax regulations.

Death Benefit (Approved Life Insurance)

  • If you pass away while in service, your nominated beneficiary(ies) will receive a lump sum equal to three (3) times your annual salary as part of the approved group life cover.

  • Please ensure that your beneficiary nomination form is kept up to date with any changes in your family or dependants.

Family Funeral Cover

  • Funeral insurance is included for you and your immediate dependants:

  • For employees or dependants aged 14 years and older: R15 000.00

  • For children aged 6 to 13 years: R7 500.00

  • For children under 6 years or stillborn: R3 750.00

Only legally recognised spouses and dependent children qualify for this benefit.

Disability & Critical Illness Cover

  • Approved Disability and Critical Illness Insurance is included in the fund’s risk benefits, providing financial support in the event of permanent disability or diagnosis of a qualifying critical illness.
