Montego Pet Nutrition was founded in early 2000 in Graaff-Reinet, South Africa, in the heart of the Karoo. Established by Hannes van Jaarsveld, the company was built on a strong foundation of entrepreneurial spirit, family values, quality, and innovation.

 

From the start, our commitment to excellence has driven us to continuously improve—refining our formulations, upgrading our facilities, expanding our infrastructure, and enhancing our capabilities to match our passion for pet nutrition and our vision for the Montego Pet Nutrition brand.

 

What began with the production of just 65 tons of pet food a month has grown to over 300 tons every day. From a single product, we have expanded to nine high-quality brands offering more than 180 individual products, catering to a wide range of market segments both locally and internationally.

 

We have evolved from a small, ambitious start-up into a household name recognised across South Africa and increasingly abroad, as we continue to grow our national and international footprint.

 

Today, Montego Pet Nutrition products are exported to over 20 countries worldwide, including markets in Africa, Europe, and the United States. In the U.S., our super-premium KAROO Wild and Bags O’ Wags treat ranges are available through major distributors, reaching more than 1,000 independent retailers.

 

Our presence in Europe includes countries such as Greece, Romania, Cyprus, and the Netherlands, while in Africa, our products are distributed across SADC countries and other regions, including Namibia, Botswana, Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Mozambique, Malawi, Eswatini, and Mauritius.
