SALARY ADMINISTRATION

The salary administration program at Montego Pet Nutrition was created to achieve consistent pay practices, comply with legislation, mirror our commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity, and offer competitive salaries within our labour market.  Because recruiting and retaining talented employees is critical to our success, Montego Pet Nutrition is committed to paying its employees equitable wages that reflect the requirements and responsibilities of their positions and are comparable to the pay received by similarly situated employees in other (similar), organisations, in terms of sector and size.

REMUNERATION

You will receive a basic monthly salary, subject to statutory deductions as applicable.  Your salary will be paid monthly in arrears.

 

All employees are paid on the last day of each month, or as authorised by the Administrative Director. 

 

  • Monthly salaries are paid for a full calendar month (From 1st to end of month).

  • Salary input calculations run from the 21st of the previous month until the 20th of the payment month. If you need to submit a claim etc., please ensure that you submit to the payroll office in the aforementioned period slot.

  • All salary claims need to be submitted to Payroll by the 23rd of each month.

 

Employees will only have pay directly deposited into their bank accounts by means of Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT’s).

 

Montego Pet Nutrition undertakes banking with ABSA.  Salary payments to individuals banking with the same institution should become available immediately upon release of funds to that banking institution. Individuals banking with other banking institutions may find that salaries only become available later (sometimes only seventy-two (72) hours after the funds release) due to the transfer of funds between banking institutions.  Such causes and controls on the part of banking institutions are beyond the control of Montego Pet Nutrition.

FIXED PAY

The Company follows a Total Cost to Company (TCTC) approach to structure remuneration for all Employees.

 

The total value of the guaranteed remuneration and benefits package is expressed as the total benefit to the individual as well as a cost to the organisation.  All elements of the guaranteed remuneration and benefits package are added up, and the total constitutes the total guaranteed package.

 

Guaranteed remuneration reflects the employee’s role and job worth within the Company and is payable for doing the expected day-to-day job requirements and forms the basis of the Company’s ability to attract and retain the required skills.

Guaranteed pay will be structured to include the following:

  • Basic remuneration.

  • Provident Fund Contribution which includes a Retirement contribution, Life cover, disability benefits and Funeral Cover.

  • Medical Aid / Insurance contribution.

  • Subsistence and Travel allowance where applicable

  • Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF)

  • Skills Development Levy (SDL)

OVERTIME

Please take note that employees who earn above a certain threshold will not qualify for overtime payment. To find out more, speak to your HR Representative.

 

As indicated, you will be expected to work Sundays and Public Holidays, as specified by Management.

 

Overtime will only become due and payable after nine (9) hours worked in a day or forty-five (45) hours worked per week calculated at the applicable rate.

 

Employees earning below the earnings threshold (for further details contact your HR Representative), will be remunerated at one and a half (1.5) times their normal hourly rate for hours worked in excess of their nine (9) hours per day or forty-five (45) hours per week and double their normal hourly rate for work done on a Sunday of Public holiday.

 

Employees earning above the earnings threshold, will not be remunerated for hours worked in excess of their nine (9) hours per day or forty-five (45) hours per week and hours worked on a Sunday.  Under special circumstances where the employee is required to work Saturday and/or Sundays, that employee’s head of department may approve payment at the employee’s normal hourly rate.

MID-YEAR LOYALTY BONUS

All qualifying staff will be awarded a bonus by the end of June based on the following criteria:

 

  • Years of service in the employ of MPN.  This will be calculated as a simple deduction of the current year minus the year you started at MPN.  Example: 2021 – 2018 = 3 Years.  The month that you started does not matter, and therefore the calculation is not based on a completed calendar year.

  • Contract workers, Casual Employees, Sales consultants, Regional & Divisional Sales Managers, Top Management, Marketing Assistant Manager, Exports Marketing Manager, Business Development Specialists, OHS Manager and Directors do not qualify for this benefit.

 

You will be penalised if you are Absent Without Leave (AWOL) according to the schedule below.

  • AWOL means the following:

  • You are absent without prior approval of a leave application.

  • You are ill, but do not notify the company within two (2) hours that you cannot attend to your duties.

  • You are ill for more than two (2) days or on more than two occasions in an eight (8) week cycle but cannot present a medical certificate.

  • You are found guilty on the above criteria after a full and fair investigation by the HR department.

  • If you are found guilty of AWOL from July until June the next year, you will NOT qualify for any bonus during June of the current year.

BONUS

In addition to your salary, you may, at the sole discretion of management, receive a bonus, provided that you are in the employ of Montego Pet Nutrition on 1 January of that year and still employed on the date on which bonus payments are approved/allocated by Management. This bonus is however dependent on numerous factors and is not guaranteed.
