SALARY ADMINISTRATION

Remuneration and Benefits

Montego Pet Nutrition is committed to fair, consistent, and competitive remuneration practices that comply with legislation and reflect our commitment to equal employment opportunity.

Salary Payments

  • Salaries are paid monthly in arrears by electronic funds transfer. Unless otherwise authorised by the Corporate Services Director, payment is made on the last day of each month.

  • Payroll calculations cover the period from the 21st of the previous month to a cut-off date between the 18th and 20th of the current month, depending on weekends and public holidays.

  • All claims, changes, or payroll updates must be submitted to the Payroll Department by the 23rd of each month.

  • Montego Pet Nutrition banks with ABSA. Payments to ABSA accounts usually reflect immediately, while payments to accounts at other banks may take up to 72 hours to clear.

Montego Pet Nutrition follows a Total Guaranteed Package (TGP) structure.

This means your fixed monthly salary includes the following components:

  • Basic remuneration

  • Provident Fund contributions through the Sanlam Umbrella Fund

  • Medical aid subsidy where applicable (Health4Me or Discovery)

  • Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) contributions

  • Skills Development Levy (SDL) contributions

  • Any applicable allowances, such as subsistence or travel

All employees qualify for membership in the Sanlam Umbrella Fund.

Contributions are made on a salary sacrifice basis, meaning both the company and the employee contribute a set percentage of the employee’s monthly salary.

  • The applicable contribution rates differ for administrative employees and operational employees.

  • These contributions are automatically deducted each month.

  • Employees may choose to increase their personal contribution percentage to enhance their retirement savings.

  • Your guaranteed pay reflects the job worth of your role within the organisation and forms the foundation for Montego Pet Nutrition’s ability to attract and retain the right skills.

Bonuses

Bonuses are discretionary and linked to company performance, individual KPIs, and executive approval. Employees must be employed before the first business day of the financial year and on the bonus approval date to be eligible. All bonuses are subject to tax in terms of the Income Tax Act.

Absence Without Authorisation

The following will be regarded as unauthorised absence and may lead to disciplinary action:

  • Being absent from work without prior approved leave.

  • Being absent due to illness without notifying the company within two hours of your normal starting time.

  • Being absent due to illness for more than two consecutive days, or more than twice within eight weeks, without providing a valid medical certificate.

All instances of unauthorised absence will be confirmed through a fair and objective HR investigation before any action is taken.
